Enjoying my flock!
Seems with all the extra room things are getting better.
They still fight when I put them in at night, though. Evil Ethel won't let Oscar perch by the door, his favorite spot. She bites his feet until he moves. Nina stays in the nest box if they pick on her too much.
Getting three fresh eggs a day is really nice and I can share them with our neighbors.
Here's a good recipe for one heck of a big, hearty breakfast :
2 large boiled potatoes (or use a can of sliced potatoes, drained)
6 slices of BACON! chopped
1 small onion, chopped
6 large eggs
1/4 cup of milk
1/2 tsp of salt
Ground pepper (to taste)
Fry the bacon until crisp (you are allowed to taste to see if it is done). Pour off some of the fat. Add the onion and fry for a few minutes. Dice the boiled potatoes or use the canned and add to the bacon and onions; fry slowly until browned. Beat eggs in a small bowl. Add milk, salt and pepper to the eggs. Mix again and pour over the potatoes and onions. Cook, stirring often until eggs are set. Serve with coffee, biscuits or toast.
You won't leave the table hungry - enjoy!

Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....
I am *so* making that.
