  4. Further to your Friday nite Steam post: In their infinite jealousy the separate states in Australia; mainly New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia, all changed the rail gauge at their various borders.
    This meant that when the train arrived at a State border, you embarked from the train and re boarded another train that matched the rail gauge system of that state.
    Insane? Yes.
    Prime Minister Paul Keating, in the 1990's changed that 150 year old system.
