Saturday was beautiful!

A gorgeous morning:

 The temp rose to 60 in the afternoon - tee shirt and jeans weather!  Yay!

 Charlie and the girls waiting to get out:

 It was just wonderful being outside. Until I looked at the radar later that afternoon:

 Nasty looking sky:

Then it hit:

Even had some hail!

Yesterday we noticed a lot of branches came down:

Nothing hit the house, so we were lucky!

Easy Listening for a Sunday Afternoon

Robert Goulet

If Ever I Would Leave You

If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer
I never would go.
Your hair streaked with sunlight,
Your lips red as flame,
Your face with a lustre
That puts gold to shame!
But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn
I never will know.
I've seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn
And I must be there.
And could I leave you
Running merrily through the snow?
Or on a wintry evening
When you catch the fire's glow?
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in springtime?
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?
Oh, no! not in springtime!
Summer, winter or fall!
No, never could I leave you at all!

(.....sigh)

At the Hop!

Those Oldies But Goodies

Those oldies but goodies reminds me of you
The songs of the past bring back memories of you
I always remember the first night we met
The songs they were playing I never will forget
I always will treasure them so close to my heart
They always will haunt me although we're apart
Each time that I hear them a tear's bound to fall
For I love those memories that I, I-I recall
Those oldies but goodies reminds me of you
The songs of the past bring back memories of you
Forever they will haunt me but what can I do?
Those oldies but goodies reminds me of you
(Oldies but goodies reminds me of you)
Yes, dear, they are playin' our songs.
And they will always remain our songs
And each time you hear them, I hope you, too, will cherish the wonderful
Memories that our love once knew.
For these songs are just a symbol of the
Love that I had for you.
Those oldies but goodies reminds me of you
The songs of the past bring back memories of you
Forever they will haunt me but what can I do?
Those oldies but goodies reminds me of you
(Oldies but goodies reminds me of you)

Friday Night Steam

Travel to County Durham's gorgeous countryside to uncover remnants of the earliest railroads that were defunct long before the invention of the steam locomotive. Then to Darlington to uncover traces of the world's first public railway in the most unexpected places. Visit the North Yorkshire Moors by steam railway. Visit the beautiful city of York and much more!

Grab a window seat , enjoy the views and learn a wee bit of history, too!

Charlie and the girls say.....

.....it's about time Chickenmom is up and about!

We missed our treats!!!

Look how skinny we are:

 Humph! - she should have cooked more spaghetti:

Just want to say a big, big "Thank You"! to all who sent get well wishes and I will reply to all today !

Sorry it will have taken so long to do (shame on me) but that darn bug had thrown Hubby and I for a loop. It's never taken us this long to recover and we get the flu shots every year, too.

Again, thank you!

Easy Listening for a Sunday Afternoon

In the mood for Ella today:

Night And Day

Like the beat, beat, beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick, tick, tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall
Like the drip, drip, drip of the raindrops
When the summer shower is through
So a voice within me keeps repeating you, you, you
Night and day, you are the one
Only you beneath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It's no matter, darling, where you are
I think of you
Night and day, day and night, why is it so
That this longing for you follows wherever I go?
In the roaring traffic's boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you
Night and day, night and day
Under the hide of me
There's an, oh, such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And its torment won't be through
'Till you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night, night and day
Night and day
Under the hide of me
There's an, oh, such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And its torment won't be through
'Till you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and night, night and day

Friday Night Steam

Big boys and their toys!

Firing up and running the Canadian National #6060 4-8-2 live steam locomotive

Featured on the cover of Live Steam Magazine Sept / Oct 2016 issue, Ernie Beskowiney put approximately 7 years and 35,000 hours into the design and construction of this flawless 7.5" gauge live steam locomotive. It is nearly entirely CNC'd out of stainless steel and is slightly larger than 1/8 scale.

The operating pressure is 150 PSI and develops about 483lbs of tractive effort. It has pulled a train of 48 people without blinking. Here is Ernie firing up and running the locomotive at the Bitter Creek Western railroad.

For more information, see the Sept / Oct 2016 issue of Live Steam Magazine, available from Village Press.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Canadian National Railways U-1-f class locomotives, were a class of twenty 4-8-2 or Mountain type locomotives built by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1944. They were numbered 6060–6079 by CN and nicknamed “Bullet Nose Bettys” due to their distinctive cone-shape smokebox door cover.
Lets go for a ride!
Off to the, ahem - recycle center:
It WAS a long trip and we had to go under the speed limit. The pickup bed was FULL! It is the same route we take during the rest of the year, but the snow made it seem so different!
Thanks for coming along for the ride - love having you join us!
