The four adorable rooster chicks Charlie, Goldie, Amos and Andy are going to be moved to the chick hutch INSIDE the pen. They will be fed and watered in there while Oscar, Ethel, Nina and Lucy are getting their breakfast.
As soon as the older ones are finished eating, they go into the run and the four babies are taken out of the hutch and get to play around and use the pen. Another plus is that they get to see other chickens!
Now all I have to do now is build a gate to separate the pen from the run. Easy peasy - only three wire cuts.
This arrangement doesn't seem too bad of a solution to my problem. After all, once chickens get used to each other, everything will work out just fine. Right?
