Two eggs for us this morning - what good girls!
Another cloudy afternoon, but they stayed out longer today than yesterday.
When they got bored looking for bugs that are not there yet, they decided to see if anything good was hiding on the deck.
Didn't realize Laverne had something stuck to her foot:
It didn't bother her at all, but it bothered me, so I had to wash it off.
Thank God they don't wear diapers....
Were the eggs frozen?
ReplyDeleteNope - ran out as soon as they announced their gifts! If the eggs do freeze, thy are still good - don't throw them out - just let them defrost in the fridge for a day. To test them if you are not sure if they are good, place them in a glass of water - if they float, toss 'em. And always put your eggs in the carton big end up - they will keep the yolk in the middle of the egg. Makes your deviled eggs much neater looking!
DeleteThird time's a charm! lol
ReplyDeleteSorry about that, Gorges.Don't know what is going on with Blogger - where those other printed lines come from, I don't know..... they don't show up on the preview.
DeleteDammit. Thanks for your above reply. I've thrown a lot of frozen eggs away this winter (Minnesota). Worse, and I am going to blame it on my age, I remembered the fresh egg test backwards and have thrown a lot of good eggs away. Luckily I haven't had any that floated to the top, but I did eat the ones that stood up - threw the ones that laid down away.
ReplyDeleteTerrible winter here this year too, Dave. If the eggs do freeze, the yolks might not be the wonderful color you are used to, but they ARE good! By the way, I never wash mine until I am ready to use them (unless,of course, they are "gift wrapped"! Keep the ones that sink - that means no air has gotten through the shell. That's why I don't wash 'em - it takes the natural coating off.
