Cold....

When I went to bed Monday night the temperature was 5 degrees and the sky was mostly clear.
In the morning, Hubby whipped up a batch pancakes for breakfast and made an extra one for the chickens.

After eating, I let them out. By now the temp had zoomed all the way up to 10 degrees with no snow falling yet.

The way they came barreling out of the coop you would think they hadn't eaten in days! Charlie ate most of the pancake before the girls spotted it. Ethel must have done her egg duty over night - there was one very frozen egg in the nest box which I just threw in the pen.

Then it started to snow and it kept up until about 4 o'clock. Another 4 inches.

It's finally going to be in the thirties for the next couple of days. Maybe some of the snow will melt enough so they can go in the yard.

Wonder if they make snow boots for chickens..........
