Botti plays a Martin Committee large-bore Handcraft trumpet made in 1939, and uses a No. 3 silver-plated mouthpiece from Bach made in 1926, having recently retired his 1920 3C Bach mouthpiece. He uses a Leblanc Vacchiano Harmon mute from the 1950s

  1. Just fantastic. Read all the links about the instrument and it inspired me to look for my French Horn mouthpiece from junior high, about 1957. Found it right away, still in the original box. Nothing special, just a Herco No. 271 student model. Used the schools horn but we bought our own mouthpiece.
    Great supplemental information, thanks for including it. My band instructor told me I had a tin ear which should give you a clue about how well I,played. :)

  4. I adore Chris Botti! I have this album...WONDERFUL! I should have been listening to your post yesterday instead of working on mine for this morning...I sat on the back porch, (had carried the speakers out, along with a nice drink, ok 1 and 1/2) and listened full blast to Bach and other greats watching squirrels run through the grass from tree to tree...for a few hours..it was lovely! After taking the grandchildren home.
