Special Statement
Statement as of 11:07 AM EST on January 23, 2016
... Blizzard conditions with bands of very heavy snow through
early afternoon...

At 11 am... bands of heavy snow have developed over portions of
central and northern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania late
this morning. This includes the I-78 and I-80 corridor. Snowfall
rates of 2 to locally 4 inches per hour are possible underneath this
band.

The combinations of the heavy snow and strong winds will produce
whiteout conditions with visibilities near zero. Travel will be very
dangerous to near impossible as snow accumulates faster than plows
can keep up with.

When I let the gang out of the coop this morning:

 The pen covered in plastic:

Snow piling up on one of the windows:

The wind is howling - will venture out later and take a video

A small woodpecker on the feeder:

The wind let up for a minute, so I went out to check on the gang and give them a treat. Some snow is getting through the plastic, but most of the pen was dry.

Sorry it's blurry, but the camera does not like the cold!

Just gotta have a pic of the thermometer!

The snow is drifting all the time - don't know what the actual total will be:

Both waterers were frozen. Good thing I have a few more of them!

The snow plow just went down the road again:

Taken a few minutes ago:

Snow is really coming down hard!

Oops! Realized I should have noted the time on the above ones.... :o(

Around 4PM I went out to change their water again and give them a big treat of corn muffin crumbs, cat food, string beans and celery:

 Hubby cleaning the driveway:

 Might take him a while!

Around 5pm when I put the gang in for the  night:

That's it for today from Coopville! Tomorrow is clean-up!

Special Statement as of 6:12 PM EST on January 23, 2016
...Bands of heavy snow moving southward across the mid Atlantic
states this evening...

The combination of short periods of heavy snow, visibility
occasionally one quarter to one half mile and temperatures
generally in the 20s will make all roads icy and treacherous
early this evening.

But an end is in sight! Much drier air is arriving on the
northwest flank of this Nor'easter and will end the snow from
northwest to southeast late this evening.

:o)

  5. Thanks God for snow plows and the good men and women that drive them in weather like this. Keep cozy, Chickenmom. Jennifer is making glazed winter vegetables: Parsnips, rutabagas, carrots and sweet potatoes. Come on over at about six this evening and share some with us!
