I lit two of them - one for the kitchen table and the other to place on the counter.
Guess which one had the cleaner glass!
The power came back on in the afternoon. And so did the rain:
That ended and the sun came out for a little bit:
And then some thunderstorms. Typical summer weather when it gets warm and humid!
I didn't let the gang out in the yard - didn't feel like running after them in the mud.
Poor things had to have their treats while stuck inside the pen!

Our daughters always thought it was "neat" when we lit the kerosene lamps during outages. Poor things haven't figured out how many generations lived with only those lamps after dark. :)
ReplyDeleteKids today don't know how lucky they have it now. I use pine scented oil in the lamps - always reminds me of the Adirondacks!
ReplyDeleteWe have a bunch of battery-powered lights, but we have a couple "old stand-by's," too!
ReplyDeleteWe have the battery lanterns, too and only use them when we go up and down the stairs. Sometimes I'll light an oil one in the evening just for the nice glow it gives!
