One of the greatest singers....
Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....

Love it!
ReplyDeleteI got used to seeing these good old memories in your Doo-Wop and Easy Listening posts every week, and I've been saving the lyrics to most. Here is one you might like from a beloved past memory - BarbaCat
Roy Rogers and Dale Evans - Happy Trails
Happy Trails to you, until we meet again
Happy trails to you, keep smiling on till then
Who cares about the clouds when we're together
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather
Happy trails to you, till we meet again.

Oh, I do remember - always watched Roy & Dale. Had their autographed pictures hanging on my wall when I was a kid. (Wish I still had them!) Glad you enjoy the music, BarbaCat!
DeleteOne of my favorite singers.
ReplyDeleteMine too, Gorges. He's right up there with my favorite, Mel Torme.
DeleteI grew up in a house with limited financial ability... But we did have a Victrola, some 78's Mum and Dad had collected, and... every Nat King Cole album my Dad could find. Love that velvet voice.
ReplyDeleteI dislike the modern style of 'showing everything you've got in the first 5 bars'. Not him. Always had that immense power you knew was there, but he never hit you with it... Patsy Cline was the same way.... That fabulous album by Linda Rhonstadt and Nelson Riddle: "For Sentimental Reasons".
Here's the story I heard: She wanted to do an album of torch songs, but Riddle told her to go learn how to sing and control her voice. Instead of blustering and getting all "Well, I have had number 1 hits!!!", she listened to him. Went, learned how to control all that power and... What an album...
Listen to her sing

She'll take that big powerful tone-perfect voice out and give it a run, but she never overdoes it anymore!
Thanks for the memory! I will go and listen to some more Nat King Cole!

Thank you for the link - enjoyed it! ( Most of the pop singers of today sound as if they are sitting on a picket fence) LOL!
