The gang was out in the yard Monday when Charlie "barked" a loud warning call.
They ALL ran back into the run, stood there and froze:
Look at their eyes! They were terrified!
Because of this:
Eagles!! There were two of them circling above the yard.
I
only got a pic of one of them. We are very close to the Delaware Water
Gap and there are plenty of eagles that swoop down into our valley from
the hunting grounds. Beautiful to watch but scary when you have chickens!

The neighbor's horses:
Leaves covering a pile of manure - going to have a really good garden next year! They are kind enough to pile it up next to our property. Hubby takes a bin full every day. Now we won't have to spend a small fortune on fertilizer anymore!
(and no, the 'aroma' doesn't bother us!)

I think it only makes sense to arm the chickens for their own protection.
ReplyDeleteThe girls are oblivious to danger. They depend on Charlie for warnings - when he goes I'll have to stand guard. (or start sounding like Charlie) LOL!
