To the dump!

Source: flickr.com

Roadside garbage pick-up is expensive here. It's very convenient and several folks on our road use it.
But we don't. We would rather travel to our local recycle center, lovingly known as the "dump" and for as little as $12. 00 we can dispose of it ourselves. We go there about every six weeks, but if the weather is really hot, every four. It saves us a fortune.

It's a nice ride and we usually go early in the morning. This is a nearby horse ranch.

 Another working dairy farm:

A rusting metal silo - the attached barn is long gone:

 Empty fields:

 Acres and acres of pumpkins!

 Waiting to get weighed:

Part of the landfill:

The long line waiting to get weighed again on the way out:

Sea gulls on top of the methane gas recycle plant:

 On the way back home:

So many trees are getting bare:

One of the places where our local honey comes from. It is delicious!

Thanks for coming along for the ride - enjoyed your company!

  1. My wife refuses to sort, or I'd quit taking trash service, too.

    1. It really is a pain to do it Gorges, but that's the only reason we can go so long between trips.

  3. We just started using trash service a couple of years ago as my health started to decline...but the cost makes me think, maybe I'm not THAT bad off!!

    1. It's work, Mamahen and it's rough during the Winter with snow and ice on the roads. But $750.00 vs. well under $100.00 is a BIG savings! Plus we treat ourselves to DD coffee and a donut on the way home! Our big day out.... :o)
