Just the same...

Maude and Sophia enjoying a dust bath in the yard:

The big, fat troublemakers on one side of the pen:

The newbies on the other side enjoy a break from the pecking:

They are getting bigger, but not fast enough!

No pic taken of Charlie - he was in the coop doing whatever he does in there.

Anyway, the rose bloomed and the scent is heavenly!

It's been hot and humid lately, so they are out in the yard for most of the day and that seems to cool them off and cut down on the fighting. Once they are all back in the pen though, it starts up again. Maude and Sophia are young and strong enough to fly over the run fence, which they do quite often when being chased. If Hubby and I go to town, we have to lock everyone up in the pen. There are always a few feathers scattered around when we return.

When this bunch goes in a few years - no more chickens! The coop will become a tool shed.

After that, I'm going to get a cat and start a new blog called "Tall Tales From Granny's Rocker".

Honest......

  2. A Maine Coon cat? Norwegian Forest cat? Persian? Himalayans are nice.

    1. Never had a cat before. There are lots of strays wandering around here, so I'd probably take one of them in.
Or maybe I'll get a goldfish....
