Egg hunt

Didn't get around collecting the eggs until late yesterday.

Opened the nest box lid:

Nothing

 Looked in the next ones:

Nada.

 Now that IS strange!

So I went in the coop and found this:

That's Maude's egg in the little nest that Charlie always makes in the corner of the coop!

Sophia's was in the middle of the floor:

This is how it looked in the coop when I found 'em:

I have no idea why they are doing this. The nest boxes are always clean and have fresh
 hay in them every day.

Stupid chickens.......

  4. Years ago when I let my chickens roam, one of the hens disappeared one day, and we just figured a cat or owl got her. Weeks later, she suddenly appeared again with ten chicks! She'd been laying and sitting all that time. Banty hens are good mothers.

    1. Yesterday and today both Sophia a Maude used Charlie's nest. He kept going in the coop and checking to see if they were still there. He got mad when I removed them.
I'm changing his name to Caitlyn....
