How many of you....

                             ...... remember being allowed to stay up late one night a year to listen to:

Should Old Acquaintance be forgot,
and never thought upon;
The flames of Love extinguished,
and fully past and gone:
Is thy sweet Heart now grown so cold,
that loving Breast of thine;
That thou canst never once reflect
On Old long syne.
CHORUS:
On Old long syne my Jo,
On Old long syne,
That thou canst never once reflect,
On Old long syne.

Happy New Year!

  1. It was a New Year's Eve tradition in my parents' household, and woe unto them that wouldn't stop talking to hear the Royal Canadians play!

  2. Hmm...I never heard that verse. For me, New year's Eve has never been the same since Guy Lombardo's passing. He WAS New Year's!

  3. It's from a poem by Robert Burns. And you are so right, Gorges - it's never been the same without hearing him live on the radio or the TV! Happy New Year!
