Friday Night Steam

Few think about the craftsmanship that went into building these iron horses. Even less have no idea of  all the machinery that had to be built to put an engine together. This is one of the old films that shows both.

Sad that there are few men alive today that could replicate these engineering marvels..


  1. Really neat video. The links were interesting also. Especially the comment about the steam locomotives having to operate on the mainline with a diesel loco. Many of the steam locomotives have controls to operate the diesel loco in their cab. Had a long comment and hit the wrong key. POOF, all gone.

    I need a bigger shop.


    1. Love those old films - no safety helmets, steel toed boots or welding goggles. Notice there were hardly any young men building the engines - just the old timers. The first link has a lot of great vids to watch, too!
