Just stuff

Laverne came to the door looking for a treat......

,,,,,while Shirley took a dirt bath under the deck.

For two days in a row there were three eggs in Charlie's stupid nest. Maybe the extra ones were
from Laverne. Yesterday it was back to the usual one each from Maude and Sophia.
They are still not using the nest boxes.

Something scraped this tree hard enough to make the sap run out - maybe that big buck that's been hanging around here did it!

Our land that we will probably never do anything with.
It looks so different when the leave are off the trees!

Hubby getting ready to bring wood in for burning!

Took this a few nights ago - looked so pretty!

:o)

  1. Either the girls are trying to impress Charlie or they are trying to piss him off by filling his nest.

    1. When I removed the eggs, I messed up his nest - two minutes later, he was in the coop making another one! Sometime he'll just sit in it all by himself. Still can't figure that ol' rooster out.....

  2. ...I still think they're courting Macho-Charley. You'll probably have baby chicks come spring.

  3. How long from getting them to the first egg? I've been told I should have had eggs last week of October....

    1. If they are fertilized by a rooster and are kept warm by the hen or in a incubator, it should only take about 21 days for them to hatch. Sometimes you can hear the chicks peeping while still inside the egg a day or two before they are born. Charlie hatched right in my hand!

  4. No boys, only girls. Looking for birth to laying. Babies...not til we get the 18yr old 'man-child' situation taken care of. (long story). Need to start putting eggs on the table to feed his 4doz a week eating habit. After he leaves, then we'll start looking for chicks.

    1. You can order checks by mail and they usually throw in a rooster chick just to get rid of 'em! Try
