Lucy's weird egg

Lucy is four years old now and doesn't lay eggs every day. Her eggs, when she does lay them, are a lot larger than Laverne's and Shirley's. Sometimes she'll sit in the nest box for an hour or so and not produce anything except cackles.

Well yesterday she did her duty, but it sure was funny looking! There was this soft wrinkled little blob on the end. (it was NOT poop). Hubby said it was a belly button!  LOL

Right after I took a picture of it, it fell off. The egg wasn't cracked or damaged at all.

The only thing I can think of is the little blob was part of a membrane of a previous egg that didn't completely form. Sometimes she will lay a perfectly good egg without a shell. Don't know why - they all get a lot of calcium.

Well, anyway, that 'ol egg scrambled up just fine!

    1. It was very thin and dried right up - that's why I think is was part of a membrane. She gave me a perfect one this morning!
