Friday Night Steam

Where would you find hundreds of wonderful steam toys?

At a steam pumping station, of course!

Leicester's (UK) Abbey Pumping Station held its very popular 29th Steam Toys in Action event, on Sunday 4th February 2018. There was an assortment of steam-powered engines, beam, boats and trains.

Yer never too old for toys!

:o)

  1. Seeing them in operation is quite different from seeing them in a display.
Quite the different time when children's play toys used actual fire and live steam.

Some stuff on sale. I liked the ones fired with a tea candle.

  3. My grandfather used to rotate a small Christmas tree with one . He set up an electric train to run in a circle in the opposite direction. I could set and watch it forever. He was an extraordinary man and I still miss him 40 years later. Thank you for making me stop for a moment and remember.
