Poor Sophia! Charlie has just worn the little gal out! She hasn't produced an egg in over two weeks.
He wants her next to him when they roost at night and won't let her wander far from him when they are out in the yard. He does his stupid little dance around her when she tries to hide from him. He doesn't do that with Maude, so she gives me an egg every day. Laverne doesn't lay eggs any more, so Charlie doesn't 'bother' with her.
Yesterday, Sophia stayed in the nest box (that's the only time Charlie doesn't bother her) for about an hour, When she came out, this is what I found:
The egg was very long and looked like it had a 'belly button' on the end!
The egg was twice the size that she usually makes:
Bought it over to my neighbor to show her and we cracked it open.
It was a beautiful normal egg inside!
The shell was so brittle and just crumbled:
This was attached to the 'belly button' end:
She's going to scramble it up for her cat's breakfast!
Wonder if she'll lay a normal one today?
