Really....

                                            ..... exciting day yesterday. NOT.

The toilet innards died. Had to go to Home Depot to pick up new parts. Also stopped off at Sears Hardware to get a price on a new impeller for the wood chipper. Oh, well, THAT part is going to have to wait until next year! While hubby was busy with that stuff, I went looking at new stoves. The one here is the original one that was put in when the house was built in 1979. It's electric. I hate it. With a passion. I would give my eye teeth for a real 6 burner gas stove. Alas, this kitchen is tiny and I would have to have a wall knocked out just to get that stove in. I really miss the kitchen in our other house - it was huge! With counter space and loads of cabinets(My grandson could ride his bike in it when he was little).

Oh, well...

Hubby is clearing brush and making a new road down in the back:

He wants to get rid of some of the smaller trees and bushes.

 We own all this, too:

Still lots of stuff to do outside before Winter sets in. Have get a new tarp over the pen. The old one leaks when it rains. A real roof will have to wait until next year.

Boy, we're gonna be busy next year!

Thankfully, nothing bothers Charlie and the girls. They spent most of the day locked in the bare garden looking for tidbits and taking their dirt baths.

Charlie and the girls

Such an easy life they lead!

  1. November has been a doozy of a month for repairs and high bills. Yikes I hope we are finished now and can just move on. Hope you are also. Never pleasant to go through. :-(

    1. Yup - it's sure has been a tough year for us too - my Jeep, the oil burner, the Wheel Horse, the septic and all the other stuff that is just plain worn out and died. And to top it all off - no eggs from the girls for two days!

  2. About a month ago I went to a restaurant auction trying for a good meat grinder. During the auction a 6 burner double oven Vulcan stove went for under $100, there was one bidder. None of us other bidders could believe that it went for that price.
So, start watching for auctions. Especially those of restaurants that have gone bankrupt.
List price for a new Vulcan 6 burner double oven is about 4 grand.
I did not get the meat grinder either, it went to high for what it was.
