Coopville Mystery

Charlie was up early yesterday (again) so I let them out around 6:15 to eat. Didn't notice anything at all unusually. Did some chores and  then Hubby and I took off for Tractor Supply and bought a  pump sprayer. We are infested with those damn Japanese beetles.

Came back home and made an early lunch then when out to let the chickens loose to catch some bugs. This is what I saw:

 Really, really big clumps of feathers:

 Charlie and the girls were waiting by the gate - they were just fine! Wheew!

I had nest of little wrens living under the tarp that covers the pen. I let them stay there until the babies could fledge, which they did..

 

 But something tore the tarp apart while we were gone and pulled out the nest.

 

 Don't know if was a hawk or a raccoon.

Any ideas on who the culprit could be??

One afternoon a lawyer was riding in his limousine
when he saw two men along the road-side eating grass.

Disturbed, he ordered his driver to stop
and got out to investigate.

He asked one man, "Why are you eating grass?"

"We don't have any money for food," the poor man replied.
"We have to eat grass."

"Well, then, you can come with me to my house and
I'll feed you, " the lawyer said.

"But sir, I have a wife and two children with me.
They are over there, under that tree."

"Bring them along," the lawyer replied.

Turning to the other poor man he stated,
"You may come with us, also."

The second man, in a pitiful voice, then said,
"But sir, I also have a wife and SIX children with me!"

"Bring them all as well," the lawyer answered.

They all entered the car, which was no easy task,
even for a car as large as the limousine was.

Once under way, one of the poor fellows turned to the
lawyer and said,"Sir, you are too kind."

"Thank you for taking all of us with you.

The lawyer replied, "Glad to do it.
You'll really love my place.
The grass is almost a foot high."

Fat Lucy

This is a pic of her that I took last evening. All she wants to do is scratch for bugs to eat along the stone wall in front of the house. Laverne, Shirley and Charlie will go with her for a little while and then they wander back. Lucy will stay there until I go and pick her up and carry her.

The little stinker squats down and waits for the free taxi ride back to the others. She is starting to waddle like a duck. If she walked any slower she'd be going backwards.

No more treats for her!

Build it and they will come! It's always nice to have a variety of wild birds around. Very enjoyable to watch and they eat so many insect pests, too!
