.... a Hairy Frogfish?

The hairy frogfish can grow to about 10 inches in length. These fish can be a variety of colors, from the orange shown her eto yellow, green gray or brown. They have blotches or stripes that may be solid black in color. They also have lines that extend from their eye.
This frogfish has many slender appendages extending from its skin. These can be used to help it blend in with its surroundings.

These fish are found in rocky or reef areas and also on sandy bottoms and weedy estuaries in the Western Atlantic Ocean from New Jersey to Brazil, and in the Indo-Pacific Ocean from the Red Sea and eastern coast of Africa to the Hawaiian Islands, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

This is a relatively shallow-water species that is found at water depths of about 130 feet. It is a bottom-dweller, where it waits for prey, which it attracts with a "lure."

Frogfish feed on small fish. The hairy frogfish has a modified spine on top of its head that acts as a lure to draw in curious fish. The frogfish's prey gets too close and then gets gulped down.

These fish reproduce through laying eggs, which are attached within a mucus veil or raft.
