She's gone -
- found her in the nest box this morning - she was barely breathing, so I held her and kept her warm until she went. Hubby and I buried her behind the stone wall with the others.
I'll miss her......
:o(
Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....
God speed little Betty.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this. Knowing that she had a good life with you may bring some small comfort.
ReplyDeletePlease accept my condolences on the loss of your sweet little feathered friend.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. You were a good steward to her.
ReplyDeleteDang it! Who would believe I could feel this way over a chicken. RIP, Betty, you will be missed
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry! I know you live your feathered friends as much as I love my girls, and can't imagine not having them...Hugs n Prayers!
ReplyDeleteThanks to all for your kind words! I know she was "just" a chicken, but they are my pets and I treasure each and every one of them. Hubby thinks I'm silly, but they give me so much joy!
ReplyDeleteOh no! That's so sad...I'm sorry to hear about your girl!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely not being silly! They become our little feathered friends and it's really hard when we lose one. I just lost a few hens and a duck....I know exactly how you feel. It's a lot like losing a house pet. Chickens have unique personalities and behaviors and they really tend to endear themselves to us!
RIP sweet Bettey!
