Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....

The Charles W. Morgan

When I was in the Navy, the entire crew would run to the lifelines to see a sailing ship. There was a four-masted ship in harbor at Monaco in '74, and we just stood and stared.
Even to a landlubber like me, she is magnificent! I always think of my Dad when I see sailing ships - his den walls were covered in pictures of them! He knew every sea shanty ever sung. And he played them on a harmonica, too! :o) ReplyDelete
When the whale boats sailed the world it is said that you could smell one from fifty miles out. Further, if they were "rendering" blubber. They say that some time around 1900, one of the defunct "Morgan" ships stank so bad the city fathers of Bedford Mass. had it towed off shore and burnt. At one time "Morgan" wasn't a single ship. It was a fleet of whalers. C.W. Morgan is the last.--Ray
