Some advanced chicken feeding skills demonstrated on a farm in southwest China's Guizhou

An amateur video shot on August 14 showing hundreds of hungry chickens flying down a hill together in southwest China has been entertaining netizens on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter.

The brood of free-range chickens in Tongren, Guizhou Province has learned that it is feeding time when farm owner Luo Haitao blows his whistle, reported Pear Video, a Chinese digital news platform.

Luo Haitao explained to Pear Video that the chickens need to fly up to different hills in order to graze, with some flying particularly high.

Guizhou is a mountainous province and the city of Tongren is known for its tobacco planting and agriculture.

Most chicken breeds can fly about 20 metres if motivated, but they are not strong in the air as their body weight is too heavy for their wings.
