Easy Listening for a Sunday Afternoon

The McGuire Sisters!

Every time it rains, it rains, pennies from heaven
Don't you know each cloud contains pennies from heaven?
You'll find your fortune's fallin' all over the town
Make sure that your umbrella is upside down

Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers
If you want the things you love, you must have showers
So, when you hear it thunder, don't run under a tree
There'll be pennies from heaven for you and me

Every time it rains, it rains pennies from heaven
Don't you know each cloud contains pennies from heaven?
You'll find your fortune's fallin' all over the town
Make sure that your umbrella is upside down

Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers
If you want the things you love, you must have showers
So, when you hear it thunder, don't run under a tree
There'll be pennies from heaven for you and me

So take a big deep breath of the clean fresh air
Put a smile on your face be a millionaire
The streets outside
Are paved with gold
There'll be pennies from heaven for you and me

  1. Does anyone even sing harmony any more? I love these old clips - makes me remember watching the Ed Sullivan show as a kid. :)

  2. These gals were great. If I remember correctly, they were discovered by Arthur Godfrey. I remember them singing "Sugartime" on the radio and my Dad and Mom singing along with them.
The Andrew sisters I felt were the best of the harmony sister acts. The Lennon and Fontane sisters were OK but I would rate the McGuire sisters #2 right after the Andrew sisters.

    1. At least we could understand words to songs. Have no idea what they are screaming about now-a-days. It's a different language altogether... sad.
