At the Hop!

Ritchie Valens

Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna

I had a girl
Donna was her name
Since she left me
I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be?
Where can you be?

Now that you're gone
I'm left all alone
All by myself
To wander and roam
'Cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be?
Where can you be?

Well, darlin', now that you're gone
I don't know what I'll do
All time and all my love for you

I had a girl
Donna was her name
Since she left me
I've never been the same
'Cause I love my girl
Donna, where can you be?
Where can you be?

Oh, Donna, oh, Donna
Oh, Donna, oh, Donna

Oh

  1. September, 1959 just back to school and my first year in "High school". We had a freshman sock hop and I was serious about a girl named Donna. We were going steady.
I played this song exactly 1 bizillion times that year. To say this is a blast from the past is for me, an understatement. On the DelFi label and the flip side was La Bamba. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper were there the day the music died.

    2. I don't know. I dropped out of HS in my junior year and joined the Navy. My Donna and I split up for reasons beyond my memory. I'm 72 and my wife will be 70 in a couple of weeks.
      Great songs, great memories.
