Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....

Friday Night Steam
How about a view of the Wabash Cannonball tonight?
Great video and one of my favorite songs. Performed by a country music legend. NKP 765 has quite a history https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel_Plate_765
What's the 'Grand Old Opry', CM? As a Canadian kid up here in Alberta, for us it was a TV show that came on before Walt Disney for country music that sounded just like that...
Glen, Canadian Hank Snow made his first appearance on the Opry January 7, 1950. There is even a stamp. http://canadianstampnews.com/otd-hank-snow-debuts-grand-ole-opry/ He did a lot of train songs, including Wreck of the Ol 97.

Fond memories of my Dad singing this song, off key, while rocking his babies to sleep. Seeing the actual Wabash Cannonball is beyond awesome.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see it Vickie! (My Dad whistled and sang Irish and sea-faring songs)!
