She's a hoot!
It was likely an unusual request, but members of the St. Louis Police Department were happy to oblige the likes of a 102-year-old woman by placing her under arrest, an item previously penned in on her bucket list.
Edie Simms, 102, was placed in the back seat of a squad car outside of the 5 Star Senior Center Friday morning. But Simms wasn’t upset about her trip downtown, and in fact, can now checkmark “get arrested” on her bucket list.
Simms told reporters she enjoyed her ride, “handcuffs and all.” So much so, Simms handed out handmade socks and scarves at the police station. Simms also passed out some words of wisdom.
“Keep going, don`t ever stop whatever it is you’re doing,” she said. “And spend some time doing community service. Sometimes the person you reach out and touch is the only person that they will talk to in a day.”
Simms indicated that even after living for more than a century, she has no plans to slow down anytime soon.
“It’s a great world,” she said, “if you just open your eyes and look at it.”
:o)
She may not be senile, but she's a little silly.
