As you all probably know by now, I do my traveling by Google Earth. I love the architecture of old New York and "walk" down the side streets looking for interesting buildings. Spied a couple of old firehouses that I thought you might enjoy too!
This one still has a cobble-stoned street in front of it:
(Did you ever notice that almost all of the really old firehouses have red doors?)
:o)

Whatta beauty that fire house is!
ReplyDeleteThey sure don't build them like that anymore. I think I was born in the wrong era.....
DeleteI want an old fire engine. Guess I will need a place to keep it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can park it right next to your steam engine! :o)
DeleteThey don't build 'em like THAT any more, and in MY town, if they had one, they'd tear it down!
ReplyDeleteSo many being torn down to make way for the 'modern' buildings that will fit in the same space. It's a shame.
DeleteRed doors - Maybe they were having more 'fun' than we thought!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Judy! I don't think we would really want to know!
DeleteI love those old fire stations. But then, I'm an old (and former) firefighter.
ReplyDeleteI bet you could tell us some really good stories, Rev. Paul! When I was a little kid there was an old firehouse down the street where I grew up. It still had the horse stalls in it.
DeleteI loved being a firefighter in very old stations. There was so much history in those old buildings.
ReplyDeleteThought you might like them, Sixbears!
