To all our friends up North:
Canada Day is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday
celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the
British North America Act, 1867, which united three colonies into a
single country called Canada within the British Empire.
Originally
called Dominion Day, the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the
Canada Act was passed.
Canada Day observances take place throughout
Canada as well as among Canadians internationally.
thanks Chickenmom....we had a fantastic canada day working in the garden and then taking a dip in the river!
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome, Kymber! So glad you had a lovely, sunny warm day! We have thunderstorms right now, but it going to be beautiful weather for our July 4th BBQ! We'll have to settle for being squirted with the hose!(and our well water is COLD!)
DeleteThank you. I have been without Internet and in cellular dead zones most of the day. I kind of prefer Dominion Day myself. It used to be the Dominion of Canada.
ReplyDeleteJust like our Decoration Day was renamed Memorial Day. :o)
