Windy!

Windy and cold again yesterday with snow!

The gang stayed in the pen all day. They were not going to get their feet wet! When I went out to check on them in the afternoon, they were inside the coop.

The wind howled all day long (turn your speakers on to hear it)

It was dark out when I locked them in for the night. The light in the coop - it's a 100 watt bulb facing the windows so it can keep any chills away and it won't shine in their eyes.

Taken with the flash on the camera. Shirley, Laverne and Charlie. It was still snowing out.

Just supposed to get snow showers today. Friday should be sunny (Yay)!

  1. Cold is bad enough, but wind makes it insufferable.

    1. Some tree branches came down in the back - at least the electric didn't go out!

  3. Good of you to put a warm light in there for them. Chickens are tougher than we think they are, but still helps to have a dry shelter and a bit of warmth. By the way, the wife came back from the coop here with five eggs the other day. Yippee!

    1. Five eggs - wow that is great! Chickens are hardy but here are only three of them in that big coop now and they just can't throw enough body heat to keep everyone warm. With the light on, I am getting two eggs each day though!.

    2. Well, we don't necessarily check every single day ( makes shamed face).

    3. That's not a problem as long it's cool out - just don't wash them until ready to use - the natural coating keeps the air from seeping through the shells. :o)
