Below is a picture of my Dad taken in 1979 next to one of his "machines" when he worked at Theta Instrument Co. before Rockwell bought it out.. Can you identify it for me?
When he was younger, he worked for Chicago Pneumatic in Garfield, NJ.

Anyone know what "T-2" means? |
Would appreciate any information you could give me. Thanks!

Thank you for identifying it for me! :o)
DeleteI hae one in my shop.this machine is really the basis for modern life and technology.its the most versatile machine in a machine shop. a good tool and die maker running one of these machines is like a concert pianist.i can make nearly anything on one.of course now a days computer controlled machine have taken over but you still see some of the manual machines around for some tasks they still cant be beat. the computer controlled machines require little manual skill which is kinda a shame in some ways they produce the same looking parts over and over where a manual machine has much more human imput.if your father could run one well he was a very talented man your friend truckwilkins
ReplyDeleteI looked a little closer at the picture and the cutting tool in the machine is a fly cutter avery old stile tool your dad had to be an old stile craftsman your friend truckwilkins
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments! Yes, my Dad was a true craftsman - he could build anything.
DeleteOnce he build a miniature working steam engine! He was also an excellent carver and gem cutter.
I have all of his tools, too - and heaven forbid if you borrowed one and didn't bring it back clean & return it to it's proper spot in the tool box!
