Deep Dish Apple Pie

It was a miserable day yesterday - rain, damp and muddy. So what's the best way to brighten a day like that???  Make a deep dish apple pie!

Hubby peeled the apples (I hate that job and he ALWAYS volunteers if the result of his effort is going to be a pie).

The filling mix: sliced apples, sugar, ground Saigon cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt.

Your standard pie crust from scratch. (I only use Butter Flavored Crisco)

 After mixing:

Rolling out the bottom layer:

 Poured in the apple filling:

 Rolled out the top layer:

Brushed the top with one of Lucy's eggs and sprinkled with cinnamon:

Popped 'er in the oven for an hour or so...and viola!!

The aroma that filled the house was just pure heaven!

And the taste?

 Indescribably delicious! Mmmmmm!

    1. It was so good - I enjoy cooking - don't like the clean-up, though!
