Mostly about my backyard chickens. (Boring, I know), but there are a lot of us out here. Mine are only kept as pampered pets. I could eat a neighbor's chicken, but not MINE. There may be a comment on current events only if I get riled up enough. And there will always be a cartoon or a joke to cheer us. I promise to try my very best to respond to comments. Now I have to figure out how this blogger thingy works....

R.I.P. Ethel
Ethel died peacefully last night. In the afternoon I bought her in the house and placed her in a box with her towel. I just couldn't let her freeze in the coop overnight.
At least she was spoiled right to the end. She deserved that; The Evil One gave me many years of enjoyment. Now who will I dress up in stupid costumes?
We had chickens when we were younger and we all becomame acquainted with their personalities. But it was not until my daughter started her duck flock that we actually had characters that become part of our lives. I am sure that part of this is a young girls certain vision but also a greater awareness on the part of the parents. I am sorry for your loss. The good thought is that there are other friends in the future to meet.
Thank you for your kind words, Copybookheadings. You are right, they are all different and you have to spend a lot of time with them to see this. Some think they are "just chickens" but your daughter and you realize what wonderful creatures they really are. Thanks for commenting and please stop by often!
I'm so sorry for your loss....I know how you loved the evil one :'(
ReplyDeleteShe was my favorite. I like the others, but she was so special. Lucy keeps running in the coop to look for her.
DeleteSo sorry to hear this.

Thank you! She will be missed - I guess Lucy will rule the roost now...will be interesting to see what happens.
DeleteChickenmom, I'm sorry to hear this. You always told the best stories about her.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Borepatch - Ethel was a real character all by herself!
DeleteSorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteThank you, CW. At the end she was a sweetheart. Very calm - not like her usual self!
