Eggs

Even though it is winter and most hens usually cut down on egg production, I've been pretty lucky so far. I think the light in the coop on bitter cold nights has helped, plus extra calcium and protein added to their normal diet did make a difference.

Since I only have four hens, it's easy to tell where each egg came from.
Left to right: Ethel's, Lucy's, Laverne's and Shirley's.

Compared to a light bulb, the are quite large for eggs in the Winter. Since Ethel and Lucy are older, the size of their eggs are smaller than they used to be, although when Ethel starts to cackle you would swear she just laid a bowling ball!
