Not Such A Good Idea....

The weather is beautiful, and the chicks are getting big. I take Nina's chicks out of the plastic tub and bring them out to the pen.

Maybe Momma will recognize her babies and show them how to be "chickens".  All will be well!

When I place them in the pen she attacks - Lucy, Oscar and Ethel come running in from the yard and join in. The poor little chicks run through the chain link fence and hide under the coop. I cannot reach them because we placed heavy cinder blocks around three sides of the coop to keep everyone from crawling under there.

raking autumn leaves, time consuming and sometimes pointless but ...

Hubby hears all the racket and sees me flat out on the ground trying to reach the chicks with a rake. He starts yelling at me for doing that - I holler back - Oscar starts screaming and Ethel and Lucy chime in too!

Hubby moves some of the cinder blocks, crawls under the coop and grabs the little chicks.

They went back into the plastic tub.... and stayed there...until they were bigger.
