The Typewriter
Leroy Anderson (1908-1975) was an American composer
of short, light concert pieces, many of which were introduced by the Boston Pops
Orchestra under the direction of Arthur Fiedler. As with all his other
compositions, Leroy Anderson wrote "The Typewriter" for orchestra, completing
the work on October 9, 1950.
This particular orchestration was performed in a
June 12, 2011 concert by members of the National Orchestra and Chorus of Spain
in Madrid . The (typewriter) soloist is Alfredo Anaya. Watch his expressions
and actions throughout the video...wonderful!
Many of the younger crowd who may see this video
won't remember the ol' typewriter . You will find this rendition absolutely
delightful.
If you aren't at least smiling at the end, you
REALLY MUST BE HAVING A VERY BAD DAY! This is for all the ancients who remember
what a typewriter was! Enjoy!
This is hilarious, and reminds me of when I was in the summer band back in High School. This was one of the ones that we played.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it and bought back some good memories! I still have my old Underwood, too.
DeleteMany thanks for including the link. Yes, reminds me of jr and sr high band also. Long long ago I worked in the office products division of IBM repairing typewriters. Then I went back to college.

They are coming back into style again! The Russians are using them now instead of computers to send messages - no spying on the keystrokes.
